about
This is a collection of original compositions that were written and recorded for use the in 2011 BFY Productions® film DEFY, and are also released as this soundtrack/score album titled "Narrative". Each one of these recordings was produced with a film/multimedia application in-mind, and were essentially arranged as individual scores for visual scenes. These tracks seem to morph their character upon multiple listens, and most likely that effect amplifies as they're applied to film scenes. The main production technique was to layer and arrange/chop various patches and instrument sequences, primarily with the SP-404 sampler and MMT sequencer, and then 'ride the faders' on the Tascam to blend an atmosphere from the sounds. One approach was layering and sequencing patches on the Roland D2 and then sampling the output. Another was to max-out the polyphony on the Microkorg using the MMT sequencer, and come up with some interesting patterns that 'cut out' sounds due to the low number of notes that it can handle. There were all kinds of different button-pushing-syncing-sampling approaches on "Narrative", and I think that it ended up being a unique soundtrack project.
