This collection was produced with every tool, instrument, and technique that I've got at this point of 2009 - with every track being created in a completely different manner and with a unique combination of gear. Coming off of the North EP from the spring, I continued to run all of the drum creation and sampling through the SP-303 exclusively to take advantage of its incredible vinyl compressor. However, I also took things a bit more remote once in a while by traveling with the Kaossilator and MD Walkman to compose electronic sounds to sample from once I arrived back in my regular studio area. Some of the sounds for sampling were created as I served in federal jury service in Seattle, propped against a wall on the 16th floor overlooking the city as the sun rose over Capitol Hill. What it all really comes down to, I guess, is that this arrangement of beats and tracks is quite varied yet oddly coherent and continuous. Electronic music and beats made without computers; a portrait that's all ears and no eyes.
